Back finally
I am back from a wonderful vacation, which was all about excitement, wrong turns, and the Amish. Riding in car with your parents when you are 24 can be very interesting. Especially while listening to books on tape. We listened to Truth or Dare by Jayne Ann Krentz, the book was incredibly boring, too many characters, and too many things going on. But there were parts of the book that got very hot and explicit. Now normally this wouldn't bother me, but sitting there listening with my parents, made me quite uncomfortable. My mom and dad were laughing because they could see how embarrassed I was getting. When we stopped to get gas I made the mistake of saying " At least you guys weren't taking notes", which my dad replied "Honey, we don't need to take notes, I am sure I could teach a class and I know your mother could", eww gross. This was stuff I did not need to know. Yes I know that my parents had to have sex in order to concave my brother and me. But the thought of them having it is not what I wanted to hear. At that moment I took out my little book that I keep ideas on and wrote ".. Note to self.. when traveling with parents put on your headset and keep your mouth shut..." Moving on to a lighter subject, I live in Florida where there is no smoking indoors, unless they sell less then 10% of food. So, seeing people smoke in buildings is a whole new world. In North Carolina about 90 some miles north of the border, there is a store called JR's. This store is an outlet of generic items, except for cigarettes. As you walk into the store there is not an ashtray that a person who smokes can extinguish their cigarette, signs that read no smoking are no where to be seen. While walking through the store, that is where you see ashtrays, so you can actually smoke in the store. Another fact, the employees smoke. Not on a break, while working. My mom and dad stop there whenever we go north on I-95, to get cheap cigarettes. I don't know if I trust anyone that can't wait for a break to indulge in a habit.

The rest of the trip went fairly smooth, my nephew is so smart and cute. We were treated to a free meal at my brother’s restaurant, at the country club. I contemplated changing my name to Buffy for the evening. On Saturday before we left we went to a Celtic festival, which was pretty cool. Lots of men in kilts. We tried to get my dad in one, but he complained he didn't have the legs for it. On the way back I started getting sick because of going from warm to cold, back to warm again. Ahh the joys of travel.
